How does your states police academy work?
In Kentucky everyone goes through the same 18 week police academy. That is except for Lexington, Louisville and the state police. I was wondering if it was like this in other states. I heard from someone that there are some departments in some states don’t require their officers to go to an academy.
Here in Texas if you want to be a State Trooper you go to their academy in Austin, but there are many small city Police Departments and Sheriff’s Offices that train their own new officers.
Here in CA the training standards are uniform, but there are many academies with different teaching styles. Most take 6 to 9 months depending on if they are full or part time.
